Unknown Fair Organs & Tunes on Old Recordings
By Andrew Barrett

Hello all, First, I would like to apologize for taking so long sending
this thank-you note. I have been heavily involved in school since the
last two weeks of August, and have scarcely had time to look at the
computer, much less type anything.

I would like to thank everyone for helping me out as far as identifying
tunes and organs. I would especially like to thank Mr. Hans Van Oost
and Mr. Bjorn Isebaert for identifying track # 21 as "Sunflowers"
(Sonnenblumen) by Leo Eysoldt. Of all the things I would have guessed
it as being, a foxtrot was about the furthest from my mind; this is the
finest foxtrot I have ever heard! (Now, if only I could find the sheet
music!)

I would also like to thank Mr. Adam Ramet for his information on
European dance music, something about which I previously knew nothing,
and especially Ms. Sharon Marie for her information on the cassette
tape and [carousel operator] Tony Simpson. There are many others
I would also like to thank, but time and space do not permit.

I found it interesting that the organ I had thought was Trudy is now
thought to be a 70-keyless Wellershaus, as the tonal quality of this
organ (in my opinion) is nothing like the 84-keyless Wellershaus at
Thursford; compared to the latter the former (to me) sounds home-made!
Perhaps it was simply on poor shape when recorded.

While I probably don't remember very well what Tony told me, explaining
the error of the phantom "band organ rally" (all the tracks are off old
LP's), I am absolutely positive that he said something about an organ
named "Trudy". If he was not referring to the custom organ built by
David Wasson, than what organ was he referring to? Is there a Dutch
street organ with that nickname? Or, does a German organ go by this
nickname? I still have not found the answer.

Sincerely,
Andrew Barrett
