Player Organ in Movie "The Great Race"
By Paul Morris

A big "thank you" to those people who took the trouble to reply
regarding this film. It was just one of those things that bothered
me.

For what it's worth, my observations were as follows. The console
really looked genuine and no doubt contained original parts. The
lack of combination pistons was drawn to my attention, however. The
spool box looked as if it might have always been there (to me) yet the
65-note piano roll looked very out of place, and bore no relation to
the "Toccata in D minor" allegedly playing from the organ. Neither
did the notes that moved on the two manuals playing.

My curiosity was really aroused by the sound, since this contained
several minor mistakes (D minor perhaps) which sounded almost like
mistracking of a roll, and I just wondered if indeed it _was_ a roll
playing organ, and they just had the wrong roll in during the movie
take for whatever reason. Now I know, and thanks again.

Kind regards,
Paul Morris
