CDs of "De Arabier" Dutch Street Organ
By Robert Moore

"The Arab" street organ is the first street organ I ever heard and is
one of my favorites. I have transferred four albums to CD since there
appears to be nothing available on commercial CDs. I was able to put
two albums on one CD.

The first CD has two albums from the Epic label, LN 3529, "The Fabulous
Arab, The World's Most Famous Barrel Organ" and LN3310, "Barrel Organ
In HiFi, Street Organ 'The Arab'". The first album is actually of two
organs, the 'Arab' and the 'Golden One'. I used just the cuts of the
'Arab' on this CD and will use the other cuts later on another CD.

The second CD has the following two albums: "The Thunderer Plays
Carousel Marches", Columbia label WL 153 and "Amsterdam Souvenir",
Philips label P 12 908 L. While the Columbia album calls the organ
"The Thunderer", it is actually the 'Arab' and a photo of the 'Arab'
appears on the back of the album.

I had the privilege to hear this great organ when I visited the Perlee
shop in 2001. This organ never fails to impress me with it's great
voicing, superior arrangements and overall performance. I hope that
someday new CDs will be made available of this fine instrument.
