| Hi MMD Readers! Looking carefully at my Ampico box labels, in some
of them I discovered very small numbers at the right lower corner,
like 3-24, 5-27, etc.
I suppose that these numbers are the issue dates (dates perforated?)
of the rolls; am I correct in the supposition? Does anybody know
exactly what these numbers means?

[ Correct: 3-24 means March 1924; usually this is the month of
[ the catalog in which the piano roll product is first offered or
[ announced. This date could be many months (or years) after the
[ artist recorded the music roll. For example, in the late 1920s,
[ Ampico and DeLuxe (Welte Licensee) re-issued rolls originally
[ published many years before, but with the expression codes revised
[ for better reproduction with the later player mechanisms (e.g.,
 [ Ampico B). -- Robbie
