FS: Early Piano Rolls
By Larry Connell

I have decided to edit my collection of rolls, most I have owned for
over 20 years. I don't want to just place them on eBay but would like
to allow serious collectors have the first opportunity.

I have decided to start with 50 rolls: all of them early, many have no
box. Included in the 50 are 14 rolls that have metal spools, not the
pin type; they look just like the Bakelite type, with a cup on one end
and a slot on the other. I am led to believe that the metal spool may
have been in use prior to the Bakelite becoming the popular choice of
manufacturers. The earliest I have seen for Bakelite is a 1912 patent
pending, so I feel these rolls are around 100 years old. I have not
seen any of the metal spools advertised so the serious collector may
want to add as conversation pieces.

Some of the makers are Supertone for Sears and Roebuck, Vocalstyle,
P-E-P and of course QRS, US Music Co, and Imperial. All of the rolls
are playable but several need minor repairs. If interested in one,
two or all please feel free to contact me at <beartrax7777@aol.com>
with questions or a request for a list. All offers will be considered
and I will ship at the best rate possible.

Thanks
Larry Connell
