Accordion Plays Wurlitzer Band Organ Rolls
By Dale Gunnar

If one is planning to build up a self-playing accordion, I suggest
using band organ rolls for a better effect. "O" rolls are basically
piano music, while band organ rolls are arranged in parts -- bass,
melody, etc. -- and have sustained notes that show off an accordion.

A common men's size piano accordion will accommodate Wurlitzer Style
165 arrangements. I tubed the trumpet section to the lower keyboard
keys, melody to upper keys, bass notes to the bass pallets (after
removing all the buttons and the chord mechanism from the back) and
the accompaniment holes to the accompaniment pallets.

I also fixed up one lady's size piano accordion to play from Wurlitzer
Style 125 rolls. The reeds in the lady's size instrument are smaller
and the sound is not of the quality of the full-sized men's accordion.
I recommend the large full size accordion.
