Deagan Chimes Striker Voltage

Robert, Thanks for the information! I am sure that the Deagan
chimes uses AC because in the old power supply there were no rectifiers
or any other electronic components except the transformer. Given the
information that you supplied I thought that I would try 42 vac for
a brief interval. Worked great!

Even though 42 vac worked I am still curious as to whether this is
really the correct voltage so if anyone has more information I would
greatly appreciate it. Here is a link to a set with the identical
actuators as mine has:

Again, thanks for any and all help.

[ A rule of thumb about solenoids and motors: "If it doesn't get
[ too hot then it's okay." However, when a switch opens the kickback
[ voltage could arc across a layer of the winding, so it's wise to
[ install a modern varistor (for AC power) or diode (DC) across the
[ motor or solenoid coil to limit the 'kick' voltage. -- Robbie
