Wurlitzer "Autograph" & Welte Rolls Comparison
By Spencer Chase

Greetings, After chasing down a bunch of false leads and a few helpful
hints, I think I have figured out the scale of the Wurlitzer 11.25"
rolls. They are from Welte T100 rolls, with a few modifications and
some added sloppiness.

There seems to be no motor speed control track and the soft pedal is
a steady "on", using duct 91 instead of using a lock-and-cancel on
ducts 8 and 9. Besides the above-mentioned differences, the bass
expression ducts are shifted by one hole: ducts 3 through 8 in the
Autograph scale become 2 through 7 in Licensee.

For MIDI files, I always convert from T100 to Licensee for consistency,
so I am expressing the conversion from Autograph to Licensee instead of
T100. The bass expression codes in Licensee are 2 ducts higher than in
T100, and since the Autograph are one off from Licensee, they are also
one off T100, right in the middle, actually.

I do not have enough rolls to compare to be able to determine if any
bass notes may have been added to autograph rolls that would not play
in T100 or licensee.

Best regards,
Spencer Chase
