Organ Rally 9 April 2006 in New York City
By Jeff Alterman

I was at the band organ rally at Coney Island that was held on
April 9th. Though the rally was small by comparison to other rallies,
it is certainly a good start. The Wurlitzer 153 was playing well and
is probably a very familiar band organ to many people in the United
States. I liked Bob Yorburg's homebuilt organ.

The player pianos added their own touch. I even had the chance to
hand play the Stroud player piano and I know that quite a few people
enjoying my playing. I even pumped the Stroud for a couple of tunes.
I had the chance to hand crank some of the smaller organs. I hope
that there will be an even bigger and better band organ rally at Coney
Island next year. Let's hope that we have good weather next year since
any New Yorker knows how the weather can be in New York during the
month of April.
