Flute Clock in Anniston, Alabama, Museum
By Craig Smith

Hi, I'm still working on that Dufner flute clock [060215 MMDigest].
I have made most of the pipes and done a lot of other things and/or
restore the instrument as well. I am in the process of looking for
replacements for the figures above the dial. I have been gathering
information and pictures of other similar clocks with the help of
Bob van Wely from the Nationaal Museum(*) in Utrecht, Netherlands,
and several others. So here I am again, asking for your help.

1. The best solution would be to find some existing figures of musicians,
about 5 inches tall, that I could adapt.

2. The alternative is to find someone who can carve some figures from
pictures.

3. Does anyone know someone who can carve them for me? I know of a
couple possibilities but I would like to contact a couple more carvers.

4. I found another flute clock that is similar to mine. It is in a
small museum in Anniston, Alabama[**]. Does anyone in the group happen
to live near there who might like to take some pictures of the figures
for me? There is a picture on the Web but it is taken from about ten
feet away and there is no detail of the figures.

Thanks for your help.
Regards,

* This a great museum (as you probably know). They have some wonderful
books and CD's in their shop. The museum catalog book and the book
about the Royal Music exhibit are outstanding.
