Racca Book-playing Piano
By Christian Greinacher

In the 080410 MMD Michael Woolf asked for some information about the
Racca Book-playing Piano (Piano Melodico), especially about the "A-
pitch."

For many years I have tuned all my different Piano Melodici to A=440
Hz, without any problems concerning its stability. These excellently
manufactured instruments are holding their tune because they all have a
well-designed, cast string frame.

I guess that it might help Michael and his friend in their restoration
project to read what I published some years ago, based on a workshop
given at the 2002 MBSI Annual Meeting, entitled "Piano Melodico, A
Family of Mechanical Music Instruments".

I am going to send him a copy of my article, but first I have to get
Michael’s correct email address. The address as given in his posting
seems to be incorrect (mail@michaelw.co.nz). Michael or you Matthew as
Relief Editor, could you please email me the correct address?

Christian Greinacher

[Jody Kravitz gave me an updated MMD subscriber list just this
[morning, and it lists mail@michaelw.co.nz.geentroep (delete
[.geentroep, of course) as Michael's current address.
    [--Relief Editor.
