The Big "T" in "WurliTzer" & Soothing Syrup
By Dave Bowers

> Matthew Caulfield remarked he is "taking a dose of soothing syrup."
> Where do we find this "soothing syrup"? I think we all can use some.

Mrs. Winslow's Soothing Syrup, on sale widely until January 1, 1907,
(the implementation date of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906),
should do the trick if you can find some.

Dave Bowers

[ Edward Elgar in 1879 composed a chamber piece for woodwind
[ ensemble which he subtitled "Mrs Winslow's Soothing Syrup".
