Valve Travel in Player Piano Action
By Herb Ziegler

Is the valve clearance on a single-valve Standard Action the same
as the secondary valves on a two-valve unit?

Herb Ziegler

[ I've been told that the valve travel of a single-valve system is
[ typically .035 to .038 inch, regardless of the maker. The travel
[ of the secondary valve in a double-valve system may be greater.
