Coloring Maple a Mahogany Red
By David Krall

Thanks to all who responded to my request for info on the round-edge
flat steel material.

Now for a finishing question. The interior maple components on my
Artrio Angelus have a dark reddish mahogany finish. This was either a
dark red stain or an aniline dye. I think this red finish was common
at one time. Has anyone researched the best way to duplicate this
color on maple? I've tried several dye stains, but they don't produce
a dark enough color. Any suggestions?
