Rebuilding Gulbransen Player Piano
By Jim Jelinek

Dear MMD readers, I happened to see the paragraph sent in by Rod
Pringle as regards the rebuilding of the Gulbransen player system.
I must beg to differ with his condemnation of the Gulbransen. I have
rebuilt all three forms of the Gulbransen stack and two are as easy
as any Standard or Simplex player.

The difficult system is the glued up variety but the challenge is not
as insurmountable as Mr. Pringle insists. If you take the stack apart
carefully you will have no problems by simply following procedures as
put forth by Art Reblitz in his rebuilding book. The valves are no
real problem provided you don't mess them up when you take things apart.

The job is a very big one to undertake and for a first try at rebuilding
it can be daunting to the novice. In this regard you would probably be
better to find a more reasonable system to rebuild.
