Player Piano Serial Numbers
By Mike Morrey

I couldn't come up with anything definite, but wasn't there a way
somewhere to identify the age of a piano, based on the serial numbers?

My player piano has three different serial numbers on it: the cabinet
is all stamped with one, the sounding board brass has one stamped into
it, and then the player mechanism itself has a third number. Since my
player seems a little, um, odd (and I mean that in the most pleasant
way!) I'm wondering the history behind it, because I'm thinking that
it's getting to be (if not past) the 100 year mark.

Thanks!
Mike Morrey
