Player Pianos Far From Dead
By Adam G. Ramet

Player pianos of all types became terminally ill in 1924. The patient
can be kept going however.

If you stick a vacuum cleaner up it to re-animate the desiccated corpse
of a player, like life-support for a zombie, then the player is dead.

If you build the instrument back to genuine health and connect it to
the human soul as intended, then it lives.

If you aimlessly recut old tunes to show what it once did, then it is
merely a taxidermy display.

If you make new music for it today and the day after and the day after
that, then it is alive.
