The First Collectors
By Richard Price

Hi, Since I am an old guy I remember the 1940s! I grew up in
Colorado. We used to take weekend drives to Deckers, Colo. There
was an inn there that had a collection of at least a half a dozen,
and perhaps more, mechanical music machines.

I was not old enough to take note of the exact types, but I recall
spending more than a few nickels to play them. I saw them first in
about 1946, and the last time I visited was in about 1952. Sorry,
but I have no knowledge of the names of the owners or the disposition
of the collection.
