FS: Small Barrel Organ by Clementi, Circa 1820
By David Evans

For sale: a fine English barrel organ by Clementi, circa 1820, signed
Clementi & Co, 26 Cheapside, London. Four speaking stops plus drum
and triangle; 17-key action, including two keys for percussion. Three
original barrels and original hand-written tune list. Overhauled,
bellows re-built and in good playing order. In mahogany case with
carved details, on original stand with storage for the two unused
barrels. Small and attractive!

Clementi was a composer and musician. He was one of the first concert
pianists and helped promote the piano, still being developed at the
time, as a serious instrument in Europe. His firm built many pianos,
organs and some barrel organs. $6,000 or near offer.
