Tools for Musical Box Repair Shop in Rome
By Don Caine

Hi Doug, In answer to your inquiry for Music Box Repair Tools [111008
MMDigest], might I suggest you contact the following hardware shop in
the heart of Sainte-Croix, Switzerland (the home of many of the world's
most makers of music boxes). They are located just a block or so down
the street from the Reuge SA factory, and they have been supplying the
music box industry, and its finest craftsmen, with tools for over 115
years, since 1896.

I'm sure this 4th generation family-owned and operated shop would be
most pleased to assist you.

  Christian Jaccard - Proprietor
  Quincaillerie (Hardware) Jaccard SA
  2 Rue des Rasses
  CH-1450 Sainte-Croix
  SWITZERLAND
  Tel. : 024/454.21.48
  Fax: 024/454.27.39

Be sure to ask about their handheld gyroscopic screwdriver(s) with
interchangeable tips! Like an enlarged jewelers screwdriver with
arms, it is a most wondrous tool for installing and removing music
box machine screws. Every music box repair person should have several
of them, with different width tips, on their work bench at all times.
(Phillips head tips are also available). In addition to being
beautifully made and exceptionally well balanced, the gyroscopic arms
allow one to easily exert more torque for insertion or removal of comb
screws and other machine screws. To the best of my knowledge, they are
the only source for this great tool.

Best of luck and good hunting for the tools you will need!

Most sincerely,

Don Caine - Proprietor

P.S.: Please let me know if I may ever be of any service to you in
identification, repair or parts for music boxes you may come across in
your business. As a former warehouse, operations and service manager
for Reuge USA, I specialize in all contemporary, and vintage, Reuge and
Thorens product repairs. I also stock many of the most needed parts
for their current and former products; including all of the replacement
parts for the Thorens AD30 4-1/2" disc players.
