My Piano Roll Collection
By David Dewey

Ref. "Market Value of a Piano Roll Collection"

This has been an interesting read, as I think any of us who have
been in the hobby very long has accumulated rolls of little interest.
(I am avoiding the word "junk", but y'all know what I mean, hear?
Use a Foghorn Leghorn voice!)

Some years ago I reduced my collection by basically giving away
about 200 rolls, and I've never missed them. Now I think I need to
do the same thing again. (I won't go into how these rolls arrived
here, but I think they reproduce in the storage boxes -- and they're
not reproducing rolls! Nyuk nyuk nyuk!)

About the rolls noted with extra holes, "a la termite" was one
I haven't yet dealt with, although mold and water damage are.
However, before tossing such things aside, don't forget about the good
rolls you have with bad flanges -- parts _is_ parts, and recycling is
a good thing!

Now I need to find a Standard Action take-up spool, or a right side
flange for one; any ideas? This is the type of spool that is just held
in by spring tension on the left side bearing, the right side having a
little cross pin to transfer the drive. The spool apparently fell out
sometime before I got the piano and landed on the floor on its flange,
which efficiently gave way to cushion the fall, and who knows where the
missing piece went.
