Movie "Hugo" Sparks Fresh Interest in Automata
By Steve Ryder

The fantasy automaton in Martin Scorcese's movie 'Hugo' has driven some
measurable public fascination with the automata of the 18th and 19th
centuries. Please see this link to a TV segment that has been airing
this weekend on PBS stations, ramping up to the 2012 Academy Awards
ceremony. It features automata and mechanical musical instruments in
the Murtogh D. Guinness collection at the Morris Museum in Morristown,
New Jersey.
