Rebuilding Aeolian Wind Motor Bellows

Hi David,  I would stick with the pouch leather disks to cover this
transition area.  The rocking action at the hinge causes a stretching
(with possible spring reaction) of the material on the side that is
opening up, so it is best to apply this patch in two distinct steps,
starting with one side completely open and applying the adhesive
(PVC-E is recommended for maximum flexibility) _only_ on half of the
disk, which is then applied with the glue line precisely located on
the leather hinge line.

After thorough drying, open the other side and repeat the glue
procedure on that side of the disk.  Apply a sealant of your choice
(I use 1:1 naptha:rubber cement).  If your new pneumatic cloth
coverings make a precise butt joint on top of the hinge line (which
they should), the patch may almost be unnecessary, but is insurance
against leakage at that point and provides a finished appearance.
