Passing of Johan Liljencrants
By Ted Waflart

Johan Liljencrants will certainly be missed. He has provided us with
many useful tools for working with mechanical music machines. In my
opinion he was truly a genius. Others have already paid him tributes
and I will not repeat them.

I did want to mention my favorite development of his and that is his
MIDI file editor called Rollook. It is a software program he designed
especially for arranging MIDI files for mechanical music machines.
I really like the vertically scrolling piano roll. The markers and
note manipulating tools are very helpful for arranging files for
machines with limited scales.

The last I checked it is still available on his web site. You can
Google his name to get to his web site. If you are into arranging MIDI
files I would recommend trying Rollook. It does have some bugs but is
still very useful. Also, I have used it on Windows XP and earlier but
I cannot get it to open in Windows 7.

I would like to add that Johan was a gentleman who was always very glad
help and answered E-mails promptly and cordially. I was very saddened
to hear of his loss.

Sincerely,
Ted Waflart
