Passing of Bob Hunt of Kennebunk, Maine
By Herb Lindahl

Dear MMD readers, Robert H. "Bob" Hunt Jr., 71, of Kennebunk,
Maine, died peacefully Friday morning, August 16, 2013 at his
residence with his family at his side, following a five-year battle
with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML).

Bob was a design engineer, putting his talents to work in many
fields. He worked for Amar G. Bose, at the inception of the Bose
sound era. He then worked for noted yacht builders Paul E. Luke, Inc.,
and Hodgdon Yachts, installing custom electrical and electronics
systems in luxury yachts. He was employed with Corning, Inc., in
Kennebunk for 32 years, until he retired. Not one to sit still for
long, he created his own company, E.T.C., in Biddeford, Maine, which
he operated for seven years before selling it.

At the time of his passing, he was operating his second company,
Hunt Piano Company, which integrated digital reading of music with
player piano rolls, creating virtual player piano rolls, increasing
the range of music a player piano could play. He loved working with
people all over the world, especially Australia and Europe.

Over the past five years I became close to Bob, through his
VirtualRoll invention. His electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic
knowledge overwhelmed me and I realized I was in the presence of
a very rare human being, someone with so many skills in different
disciplines. He began working on mechanical instruments many years
ago, while raising his family and working full time in other fields.
I have worked closely with Bob over this past year, and our goal
is to have his invention live on.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, from 6 to 8
p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m., officiated by the brethren
of York Lodge #22, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street,
Kennebunk, Maine, where a Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday,
August 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Should friends desire, memorial
