Seek New "Small" Piano Roll Boxes
By Jeffrey R. Wood

The standard box for "small" piano rolls is 2" x 2.25" x 12.5"
(outside dimensions). Many of the recently-made "small" boxes are
somewhat oversize and will not work with my roll storage system.
True, these bigger boxes are made of slightly thicker cardboard,
but material of the traditional thickness I find entirely adequate.

I can use several hundred of the correctly sized standard small
boxes, and also at least 100 of the next larger QRS size having an
extra eighth of an inch added to the height and width to accommodate
the larger (medium) flanges on many of the earlier QRS rolls; the
oversize "small" boxes aren't quite big enough for the proper fit.

About thirty years ago, QRS was supplying plain black boxes in two
sizes for their small and large Ampico rolls, and plain tan boxes
in the same sizes for their Duo-Art production. Might these still
be available from that source? The sizes were just right!
