Donating a Collection to an Institution

Yes, I agree from personal experience that schools are bad news for
donating instruments. Unless it is art donated to an established
museum at the school, and it comes with the funds to build a wing to
house and maintain the collection, there is little hope for such a
donation.

At one school, I found a beautiful Steinway Duo-Art grand in excellent
condition sitting in the common room of a dormitory. The electric motor
was missing, though, and a little sniffing around found it operating a
sump pump in the basement of the building.
