Jim Wells, Mechanical Music Collector
By Thomas Larsen

For Lee Munsick [160325 MMDigest], see "Jim Wells" at

  http://www.mmdigest.com/Archives/KWIC/W/wells.html

I live close to where Jim Wells lived in Fairfax, Virginia, and
I attended the last auction of his stuff [some time] later than 1977.
(I believe there had been earlier auctions). Jim had a huge Mortier,
a Wurlitzer 153, and a Wurlitzer CX, which I believe Lloyd Thoburn
bought at the auction. He was a retired Ford dealer and was always
on the lookout for a Ford Thunderbird that he could restore and sell.
The Nipper and RCA Phonograph stood on a raised platform in his front
yard for many years.
