Wind Chest Bleeds Installed in Steinway Duo-Art
By Thomas Binnall

I had the pleasure of being invited to Phil Hill's in Santa Monica.
His B Steinway Duo-Art had been rebuilt by Iver Becklund, who did
much restoration work for J.B. Nethercutt.

The solution for correcting the loudness situation in Phil's piano,
once it had been determined that everything was working properly,
was to drill holes in either end of the stack, and install adjustable
bleeds. It seemed to me a bizarre solution, but it worked.
