Ampico "A" Roll to "B" Roll Translator
By Bob Taylor

[ Was: Device to Play Ampico "A" Rolls on "B" Pianos ]

In an earlier posting, MMD 2017.03.04, I announced success with a
prototype of my invention. A promise to report progress beyond the
prototype stage was part of that posting. That promise is now being
fulfilled.

My invention now has a name. It is called the A/B Translator. That
is short for "Ampico A roll to B roll Translator".

The purpose of the A/B Translator is to improve the performance of the
Ampico B piano when playing the earlier coded Ampico A rolls. Failing
to properly render some A rolls is a widely acknowledged shortcoming of
the Ampico B system.

On MMD there has been some comments generated from my initial post on
2017.03.04. Also, there have been comments from an individual who
tested the Translator. Others, who are skeptical, and who feel no
improvements are needed for the Ampico B, have also made comments.

Owning to the fact I didn't initially give the invention a name,
various titles were given to these MMD responses. I would like for
Robbie to simplify finding these responses in the MMD Archive by
perhaps using the key word "Translator". Then we can have a less
complicated search to find all responses for analysis.

Here is my web site URL for the A/B Translator with many of its details
revealed: http://www.aeolianorgan.com/Ampico_Translator
