Why and How I Got Involved in the Wurlitzer 165 Roll Market
By Andrew Lardieri

In order to broaden my love for all things mechanical music, I had decided

to become involved in the market for Wurlitzer 165 band organ rolls, since

the Wurlitzer 165 is the most elite, robust, and popular band organ that

Wurlitzer produced and since the scale for the 165 is the only band organ

scale which is fully chromatic (which means that tunes lacking the notes

D#/Eb, G#/Ab, A#/Bb when arranged for the 150 scale have those notes in-

cluded when played on the 165 scale).

My involvement in the 165 roll market began shortly after joining AMICA

when I heard about and met the talented arranger Andy Park from Queens, New

York, and his kind and awesome manager Glenn Thomas of Belle Mead, New

Jersey. From there my involvement broadened even more from helping to

choose tunes for future band organ rolls and actually commissioning my own

165 roll. It's an expensive and time-consuming task to commission a roll no

doubt, but totally worth it in the end. Now I will continue to be involved

in helping the 165 roll market stay alive and running by doing my part in

picking great tunes for every spring carousel roll and commissioning one roll

of my very own in years since 2017

when my first roll was released for sale.
