Peppermint Scented Hide Glue
By Norman Cantrell

I have often encountered some hide glues that emit a peppermint odor
when sanding during clean up or washing down with a damp rag. I most
often find this on Aeolian player systems but have noticed it on others
as well.

My question is, has anyone ever tried to duplicate this by adding some
fragrance such as Essential Oils, or even food flavoring concentrate,
to help mask the usual odor of hide glue. After using hide glue for
over 35 years the smell doesn't really bother me but I was just
wondering if anyone had ever been able to duplicate those factory
efforts.
