Unidentified Duo-Art Roll of "Black Bottom"
By Peter Phillips

I recently came across a Duo-Art roll of the song "Black Bottom"
that is a mystery to me. The roll was on new paper, although probably
cut many years ago. It has a heavy paper Duo-Art style leader marked
QRS on the underside.

The only version of this piece on Duo-Art is that played by Alan
Moran [Duo-Art 713272] and when I played this mystery roll it started
with an arrangement of "Swanee". So it's definitely not the Moran
version. I am assuming this roll is a QRS production, although the
leader attached to the roll was stuck on with tape which fell off when
I removed the roll from its box. So there's no guarantee the leader is
original.

I would love to know more about this roll, as it is well played and
the arrangement is very catchy. My friend Glenn Amer and I spent time
looking on YouTube for this version, but could not find one. The fact
that it starts with the tune Swanee might help someone identify its
source and who plays it.
