Missing Tunes on Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ Rolls
By Matthew Caulfield

[ Ref. 191122 MMD, FS: Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ Roll 6532-A ]

I'm sorry for the confusion. I thought I had several copies of 6532-A
left in stock. But when I went to prepare them, I discovered that only
one was that roll. The others were special rolls I had Play-Rite make
for me that contain twelve tunes missing on already-produced but
incomplete rolls.

These twelve tunes do not make up a playable roll because their tempos
are all geared to fit in the proper position on the roll they should go
on. By scissoring a tune out of the special roll and splicing it into
the roll it is missing from, the tune can be used there and will fit
in proper tempo.

The twelve tunes of the special rolls are:

1. The Veleta; New Round Dance (6505, tune 2)
2. Smiles (6546, tune 9)
3. Girls Of France (6546, tune 10)
4. I'm Always Chasing Rainbows (6554, tune 1)
5. My Home Town Is A One Horse Town
But It's Big Enough For Me (6570, tune 1)
6. Honolulu Eyes (6570, tune 2)
7. Civilization (6578, tune 6)
8. The Sheik Of Araby (6606, tune 1)
9. When You Walked Out (Somebody Else Walked Right In) (6618, tune 2)
10. If I Knew You Then As I Know You Now (6618, tune 3)
11. Listening In (6618, tune 10)
12. Telling It To The Daisies (6658, tune 1)

You will notice that quite a few of these tunes were the first tune
(or first and second tune) on the roll they were missing from. That
is because the best and oldest Wurlitzer rolls got played over and
over until those tunes were lost through sheer use.

I guess, if any Wurlitzer 165 fanatic has a roll on which one of those
tunes is missing, I could scissor the tune out and sell it separately.
But as I said, this roll is not playable as a single roll because of
the tempo differences in the twelve tunes.
