Reading that Ampico recorded but never issued Mussorgsky's "Pictures
At An Exhibition" is confounding. I have long thought (for at least
50 years) that that would be a natural, particularly since the suite
was composed for piano to begin with.
Is it possible that the master rolls exist still? If so, is there a
possibility that new rolls could be cut? I would pay gladly to obtain
a set and I'm sure there are many Ampico owners that would also
enthusiastically support such an effort, perhaps by subscription or
similar up-front investment.
I'm on record now; let's get "Pictures" into the Ampico repertoire.
