Anatomy of a Wurlitzer Valve
By Jeff Davis

[ Ref. Joel Cluskey in 201225 MMD ]

Joel, Sounds like a good plan. A few suggestions: You can probably find
a 13/16" diameter punch on line and punch your own valves. You may find
you will do this anyway, [as] 3/4" may be too small for a good seat on
the valve seats.

You'll probably need to replace the pouches. If you need to cut away
the sides of the pouch chamber, measure with precision the height of
those sides before you cut.

When you reassemble, the chamber height greatly influences how far into
the pouch your valve goes, valve play, even possibly the opening of the
pneumatics on the deck above, they may hit on the top if it is too
high. In other words get it as close to original so there will be less
adjustment.

Also, be careful when you saw the chamber apart. There may be totally
hidden tacks that may have been used in the factory to hold things
together as the glue set up.
