Knoebels Amusement Resort Band Organs, Part 2/3
By Cassidy Juraniec

The Band Organs at Knoebels S&G Carousel

Hello, my good friend Tom Iannucci and I paid a visit to Knoebels
yesterday. This is the second of three articles I am writing about
Knoebels. This one will cover the S&G carousel there and its two organs.

Just outside the S&G Carousel but within the pavilion on both sides
are two Wilhelm Bruder Soehne (WBS) Model 79 48-keyless organs. The
first one plays Wurlitzer Style 125 music rolls, but it was not playing
when we were there.

A fun fact about this organ is that it used to serve the music for
the former Rhoad's Carousel (PTC #41) that was in Wildwood, New Jersey,
from 1918 until 1977 when it was sold for scrap. It was in storage for
a few years until Clementon Park in Clementon, New Jersey, purchased it
for its former carousel (PTC #49) until they sold it for scrap in 1994.
Some of its horses are in the carousel museum at Knoebels, by the way.
Then Knoebels purchased the organ and it's been there ever since.

The second WBS Model 79 organ plays Wurlitzer Style 150 music rolls.
This was the only organ playing at this carousel when we were there.
We favored this organ for its unique sound.

Knoebels is interested in playing our new band organ rolls once they
get produced on paper, which is really exciting to have other places
interested in taking our new carousel music like this! Plus they do not
appear to have many rolls for this organ as it seemed to play the same
songs repeatedly as Tom had pointed out from a previous visit of his.

Here is my video of the WBS Model 79 organ that plays Style 150 rolls:

Here is a video of the WBS Model 79 organ that plays 125 rolls
(formerly from Rhoad's Carousel (PTC #41) in Wildwood and Clementon
Park's PTC #49). This last video is not mine as it did not play when
we were there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHo5pCw0P-U
