Seek Welte Philharmonic Pipe Organ Player Parts
By Dave Krall
I have been restoring the spoolbox player assembly for a Welte
Philharmonic organ with the intent of building it into a complete
Self-contained player that can be attached to any pipe organ to
play the amazing Welte Philharmonic pipe organ rolls.
The basis for this project is the spoolbox assembly that came from
the console of the 1914 Welte organ that had been installed in the
William Luden mansion in Reading, Pennsylvania. The organ itself
(which was built by Moller for Welte in Poughkeepsie) is now in a
church in Reading. The console, with the exception of the spoolbox,
was destroyed.
All of the player parts are German-made. I assume the console shell
was built in the Poughkeepsie, New York, factory.
While I have most of the important other parts to complete this
project, there are a number of smaller pneumatic actions that I need
to acquire or build myself. It would be nice if I can find original
parts to purchase or to make accurate reproductions of. Otherwise
I can build my own version of the parts I need.
Attached are some photos of the restored spoolbox assembly and a photo
showing the kind of actions I am looking for.
Thanks,
Dave Krall
