Hi! I am currently trying to find some info on a music box by B.A.
Bremond which your site specialises in, pictures on request I guess.
It is _very_ different from anything you have listed by him made ever,
therefore I was wondering if any of your records related to it.
Description: A music box, innards removed, two switches in a graduated
green chagrin case, mounted with a silver plated metal on copper
triumphant naval trophy with flags, wreaths, cornucopia, one side with
central anchor other with star sided by cadecaus trident above harp,
a handshake and words "E pluribus unum" the motto for USA. All this is
mounted on, I presume an ironclad naval boat. A finial figurine atop
has been sawn off and filed down.
Labels: "La Triomphale - Valse" and "Marche Militaire" by Anton
Rubinstein; BA Bremond Rue Pradier No.7 Geneva Musical Boxes
manufacturer; BA Bremond Fabricant Geneve; Metal trophy is marked
F. Chomel.
Serial Number: Has the serial number 9001 atop label. According to a
thesis on your website by Paul Bellamy, Bremond moved to this address
when his serial numbers reached 9000 in 1866. Therefore my thesis is
that this was commissioned for a naval officer for the end of the Civil
War, but for some reason it never reached America, therefore the finial
figurine was sawn off for resale or perhaps it broke. Maybe it was a
controversial figure on the Confederate side?
