[ Ref. Rich Ingram, FS: New Large Ampico Boxes, in 25.09.08 MMD ]
Dear Rich, Thanks for posting about Ampico boxes a few weeks ago.
Are large Ampico boxes still available?
We are in the middle of preparing our hallway for painting and am
moving half my collection of Ampico rolls -- and finding just how
many of the original roll boxes are disintegrating! Many of them
don't look easy or indeed feasible to repair, so I am on the lookout
for replacement boxes. I have three questions:
1. How big are the "large" Ampico boxes? As I don't collect QRS
rolls I'm not sure how big the large QRS boxes are, and hence how
big the replacement Ampico boxes are.
2. Are they still available?
3. Are you able to ship, say, 20 or 30 of these boxes to the UK
(Nottingham, England) and if so, do you have any feel for how much
the shipping would cost?
I doubt if your offer "get a roll for $1 and ship more cheaply"
applies to the UK anyway, but as we are maxed-out on roll storage
that isn't a route I really want to go down.
I appreciate there will import duty and VAT, etc., on top of all the
costs. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Arthur Jones -- Owner of a 1924/5 Marshall and Wendell Ampico A
and a ca. 1900 Pianola 65-note piano player.
