Grüezi mitenand, today I write you from Saas in Graubunden,
Switzerland, my vacation resort where I live in a nice holiday house.
Before I arrived here I made a music box tour, on which I visited a
museum and a private collector. The museum, which opened for the
public early this year, is the Sternen-Muri museum near Bern.
Someone here on the MMD forum told us about the opening of this
museum, and I decided to make a journey there, which I did from
October 5th to 7th. On October 6th (Monday) I had a special guided
tour with Mr. Badertscher, the museum owner, and we made videos from
this tour, to make the museum more popular for the international
collector world. You can find this video series under the title
"Jochen Kopf's impressions from the Sternen-Muri" on my popular
channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@JochenKopf ).
The focus of this collection are music boxes, but the Badertschers
have also other mechanical instruments, as you will see and hear.
It's always worth visiting this interesting museum, in which all the
instruments are in good working condition. At the end of every video
you find the link to the museum: https://musikautomaten-muri.ch/
This new series is dedicated to the German Society for Self-Playing
Musical Instruments (Gesellschaft für Selbstspielende Musikinstrumente)
(GSM) and to my young blind collector friend Till (I call him Till Kopf)
in Marburg. It's a kind of appetizer to visit the museum yourself.
Enjoy!
Best collector's regards from
Jochen Schäfer, a.k.a. Jochen Kopf -- this time in Switzerland
