We're going to Japan in May, primarily a tour of cultural and historic
sites with as many gardens as we can cram in, but I'd also enjoy something
related to mechanical music. We thought we'd visit the Kawaguchiko Music
Forest Museum because it has a nice location and other things to do in the
vicinity. For me, seeing the actual collection is of less interest than
meeting the people involved. I haven't been able to determine whether they
have a restoration shop; shop visits are my favorite mechanical music
activity.
I wonder if anyone here has advice or suggestions on getting to meet the
people behind the scenes or if there are other places we should be trying
to get to. We won't have a lot of time for this aspect of the trip, so we
have to pretty much stick to the area between Tokyo and Osaka. The north
will need to await another trip.
Cheers,
