Mailing List Info
By Jody Kravitz

I'm gradually putting together an introductory statement on the
mailing list itself. I've sent some varation of this message to a
few of the more recent subscribers. I'm interested in input what should
be in this message. That input should be sent to:

	automatic-music-request@foxtail.com

•Please let me know if you'd like me to send you some or
all of them.

Please send requests to:

        automatic-music-request@foxtail.com

Please send articles to:

        automatic-music@foxtail.com

At the moment the automatic-music mailing list is maintained
entirely by hand. This account (automatic-music-request@foxtail.com) is
read by a human (me) and is normally used for list maintenance correspondence.
The other address (automatic-music@foxtail.com) is used for messages which
are intended to be seen by everyone on the list. Once per day (usually in
the evening) I edit the messages into a "digest" and send the digest to
everyone on the list. At the moment we do not support a "non-digest" form
of the mailing list.

There are currently 56 people receiving the list. I have not received
permission from everyone to give their names out, so for now you will have
to deduce who is reading the list from the postings in the archived digests.
I believe I sent you that list in my last piece of mail to you.

There is not specific or required topic. There are MIDI programmers,
piano technicians, owners of reproducing pianos, band organs, residence
organs, music archivists, roll duplicators, serious restorers, musical
arrangers, and casual hobbiests represented. I'd encourage you to post a
note introducing yourself and your interest. If you prefer, drop me a note
requesting some or all of the archives to be mailed to you so you can get
an idea what has been discussed. Basically anything related to automatic
musical instruments, whether antique or modern, is fair game.

I'd like to encourage you to write a note introducing yourself and post
it to the list.

Welcome aboard.

Jody
