The Skala-Rolle and the Monteur-Roller are described in detail in:

We have one copy of the Monteur-Rolle which we have scanned and analyzed. If
there is enough interest, I may try to put the image (huge!!) on our ftp
server. Unfortunately we cannot lend the roll.

I don't have the file at my workplace, and I'll be away next week, so don't hold
your breath! :-)

Btw., we noticed minor differences from the descriptions and the actual tests
on the roll. However, the names of the tests are written manually on the roll.
Of course this info is lost on the scanned (b/w) images. We had problems
with the roll to MIDI conversion as well. There seemed to be spurious events on the
roll. Later we discovered, that some holes were taped with an opaque restorator
tape. While these appeared closed for the pneumatic reader, the optical
reader saw them as open holes. We had to edit these out manually.

I plan to put a demonstration of our processing to our ftp site. Since digital
audio takes up very much space, I'd use MPEG-Audio Layer-II encoding. (There
are shareware programs to play MPEG-A-II.) Let me know what you think about this.

I'm a bit disappointed that noone responded for my call for participation in
measuring tape speed variations. I'm still eager to hear your results.
