New AMICA Information and Re: Kimball Player Piano Parts
By Robin Pratt

Jody, You asked for a "new" AMICA intro so here goes!

Many of you on line currently are members of AMICA. The Automatic
Musical Instrument Collectors' Association, International. As a service to
new on line members, let me explain a little about AMICA and what we are all
about:

AMICA is a non-profit, tax-exempt group devoted to the restoration,
distribution and enjoyment of musical instruments using perforated paper
music rolls and perforated music books. AMICA was founded in San Francisco
in 1963. I am the Publisher of the AMICA Bulletin which is the glossy
magazine (ala Time/Newsweek) that is sent to members 6 times per year (every
other month). Contained in the magazine are: historical articles,
biographical articles, classified and display advertising, reprints of old
articles and advertising as well as contemporary items by members. We have
14 Chapters which cover most of the US and some Canada and InterNational
members are encouraged to join the Chapters. You must belong to
International to join a Chapter. Dues are only $27. per year with no
initiation fees. Chapter dues are different by Chapter, but are extremely
reasonable ($5.00ish). For more info on membership, contact:

Mike Barnhart, AMICA Membership Secretary¶

Give it a shot. You'll be glad you did!

Now onto Bradford Greening's inquiry about the Kimball player piano.

    Brad,
You can contact a company for all service and parts and repairs called:¶
Dancing Ivories¶
11 Washington Avenue¶
Bay Shore, NY 11706¶
516-242-0963

It is my understanding that this fellow bought (acquired) ALL of the
Kimball "Stuff" and sells the above services. But be ready to pay for them.
I understand it is rather expensive. I don't know that for sure, but only
what I have heard from other technicians. This should answer your call for
help. Give him a try.
