Greetings from Frankenmuth Michigan!

My name is Jim Engel.  I'm a 34 year old hotel manager who is preparing to
rebuild a player piano.  Joined this forum to learn all I can on the subject.
I have spoke with several of you via e-mail and called the Player Piano Co.
to order their catalog on the subject written by Artheur Reblitz.  Am
currently reading another book on the subject written by Larry Givens.

An wondering if any of you know any specific background on my type of player
or history on the manufacturer. The upright was manufactured by The Cable
Company out of Chicago.  Most recent patent date on the piano is 1917.  Is
this a rather common player.  On a scale of 1 - 10 how is it in quality of
design, etc.  I've read that some players are easier to work on then others
and that designs really vary.

I grew up with a player in the family (I don't personally play without
rolls!).  Dad still has his, so I thought I would rebuild my own and let my
brother inherit the original family piano some day.

Piano was a steal (at least my current investment).  Two uprights were
available at a local auction.  One was a player.  Auctioneer put them both up
for one money.  Started bidding at $20.00.  Looked like I was going to get
them both.  The non-player was a very attractive piano... so a guy finally
jumped in on the bid.  Ended up paying $120.00  and owning 2 pianos!  Sold
the non-player at a garage sale a year later for $75.00.  Current investment
$45.00.
