Hupfeld rolls
By Mike Walter

I need an answer to a question concerning the different varieties
of Hupfeld rolls which were produced early in this century. The
question is:

Is there any difference in the arrangements of pieces
which appeared on the various formats of Hupfeld rolls? To explain
this question further by example... If Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodie
#2, played by Alfred Cortot, were released as a DEA, Duophonola,
Triphonola, and Animatic roll, would there be any difference in the
arrangement of the roll, or would they all be the same arrangement,
except for expression coding? This question has come to light as the
result of some scholarly research, and is a bit of a puzzle. If anyone
has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.:) Thanks a lot

                                        Mike Walter
