Players pianos and sources for parts
By Joyce Brite

I've only been on this mailing list for a short time, but already it
appears many people are looking for parts to restore old pianos, organs
and more. I spoke with a friend of my Dad's the other day and told him
about this mailing list--and he was very interested.

Al is 80 years old, has repaired and restored player pianos for decades,
and is still restoring them. He has lots of spare parts for players
(as he said, "an attic full of parts"). He purchased some of them a few
years ago from another pinao repairman who went out of business. I told
him I would forward requests for parts and repair questions from the
mailing list to him (he doesn't own a computer and has probably never
touched one in his life).

Al told me he was ready to start getting rid of some of his excess
inventory, he's just not sure where to go or who is interested. Since
I know nothing about restoring player pianos, I can't assess the value
of the parts he has, what is useful, and what is not. His inventory,
however, is probably substantial.

Is anyone on this list interested in talking with him and/or taking
a look at what he has? One caveat: the parts may not be well organized
so you may have to spend some time sifting through things. If anyone
is interested, please e-mail me and I'll give you the particulars. If
you're traveling this direction during the holidays and are interested
in stopping by, let me know. We're in Manhattan, KS, 120 miles west of
Kansas City.

Thanks a bunch! - Joyce
