Re: An interesting rolls find (digest 951213)
By Robbie Rhodes

Jim Canavan: That _is_ an unusual set of rolls. My guess is they
were punched using a single-hole frame punch, like the Leabarjan
machine, by a skilled and dedicated music-lover (possibly even a
pianist). They are not likely to be "live-recordings" since the
penciled expression notations include values for adjusting the
paper Tempo manually.

The hours of labor that went into your 1927 rolls are equaled by
today's hours of labor transcribing manuscript to Midi performance
files. I'm thinking of the fine Ragtime performances created by
member <JohnRoache@aol.com> and available via <haley@ragtimers.org>.

What titles do you have? Could you provide an audio cassette
recording of the rolls, pumped by you?!
