Hi Richard,

        Glad you're reading this list, I'm sure we can all
benefit from your expertise and experiences.  Regarding the
available width of optical scanning heads:  Why should this
be such a concern?  Couldn't you simply mount two heads,
overlapped slightly with respect to the width of the paper
but offset with respect to length, then correct for the
offset in the software?  (I'll attempt some ASCII art,
hope this works!)

 [ was "broken".  I've fiddled with it and it looks good
 [ here.  There's no telling whether I've made it worse for
 [ others...  I hope not.

•For heads with a width of 8 1/2" this would give you a capability of scanning up to
17" wide rolls (AEolian Duo-Art Organ rolls?)  Any thoughts?  -John Grant
